Fresh Patch

As a cat guardian, I am always looking for ways to keep my cats happy and healthy, while providing them with the enrichment that they need and deserve. I noticed Fresh Patch at CatCon this past summer and was very intrigued with the concept of providing my cats with a patch of fresh grass for them to explore and use as they needed. My cats always have fresh cat grass for them to nibble on when they need to settle their bellies. But Fresh Patch has brought the cat grass concept to a whole new level. This is more than just a small container of grass for your cat to nibble on. This is a PATCH of grass for them to nibble on, sleep on, play with, or, actually, use as a bathroom. Absolutely AMEOWZING!!!

From Creation…

Fresh Patch came to creation in 2010, when founder, Andrew Feld moved across country with his dog, Chloe. Their new home in Florida did not have the backyard that Chloe had become accustomed to, so Andrew did what any good pet parent does, he tried to recreate a yard for her on their condo balcony. It was a great idea, but one that was difficult to maintain. That was when he came up with the concept of Fresh Patch, grass patches that would be grown locally or organically, then packaged and delivered to your door.

Over the years, Fresh Patch has grown as a way to provide your pet with a safe alternative to the outdoors, all within the safety of your home. In 2015, Fresh Patch was on Shark Tank, where it received the support of not one, but two backers. Then, things really started to take off. And all though Fresh Patch was still mainly marketed to dog parents, the potential to branch into the cat community was not far away.

Benefits for Cats Also

The Fresh Patch Team quickly realized that their grass patches have amazing benefits not only for dogs, but for CATS as well. A team member had a friend whose cat had been dealing with multiple UTI, urinary tract infections, and was looking for a way to support their kitty. Shortly after their cat received their Fresh Patch, the health issues decreased dramatically, as well as their happiness and mood increased. Another cat guardian decided to try Fresh Patch as an alternative to a traditional litter box for their cat who was dealing with arthritis, making it difficult to step into the litter box. They offered Fresh Patch to their kitty who quickly transitioned to using the grass patch as their new, and easier to access, litter box.

It has been scientifically proven that cats need enrichment for their well-being. We keep our cats indoors to keep them safe. But, in the process we take away a lot of natural resources they would have access to. Fresh Patch is an excellent and safe way to bring the outdoors in for your cats. And after attending their first CatCon, Fresh Patch is fully embracing the needs and desires of a cat. They are also looking to create toy attachments for the condos, as well as additions to turn the condos into Kitty Mansions.

When Fresh Patch first learned about Mission Meow, they were just starting to expand into the cat community. They had always helped with rescue organizations, but most of them were dog specific.
