The Herbal Cat

If you are like me, you are always looking for ways to help keep your cats happy and healthy. If you are also like me, you gravitate towards a more natural approach in your cats’ care. Being able to find a resource that encompasses all the many different areas of care for our cats is like finding the Holy Grail. Which I quickly realized that I had back in 2018 when I found The Two Crazy Cat Ladies, Adrienne Lefebvre & Jae Kennedy. They instantly caught my attention with their Learn, Share, Grow motto and my love affair with them grew over the years. So, you can imagine just how excited I was to learn that they were writing a book! Not just any book though. They are writing The Herbal Cat book along with Rita Hogan! Shut up and take my money!!

For years, I have been using herbs with my cats. Placing down some dried herbs is quite possibly one of the easiest ways to help your cats be their best emotionally, mentally, and physically. I have a few go-to resources if I need to find a particular herb good for a particular issue. However, how nice would it be to have all the information that I would need compiled into one resource? Which herbs are good for kidney disease or asthma or end of life? How amazing would it be to just go to the index, look up the ailment or behavior issue and BOOM, all the herbs listed that would help. I cannot even express how exciting this is and how long we cat guardians have been waiting for something like The Herbal Cat.

So, how did The Herbal Cat book come about? A book idea has been niggling in Jae’s brain for the past eight years. She knew that there was a book that needed to be written for and about cats but didn’t quite know the exact concept. Then COVID hit, forcing all of us to stay home and spend more time with our cats. Such a sad time (insert sarcasm). The ladies decided to put the book idea on the back burner, switch gears and work to reach and help all of these cat guardians who are now spending more time with their cats and looking for a more holistic approach to their care.

Over the past 6 years, Jae and Adrienne have become a wealth of knowledge for cat guardians everywhere. They are one of the most well-known cat-fluencers in the cat community. Their Monday Q&As on are full of cat guardians seeking advice to help their cats. The Two Crazy Cat Ladies have become trusted, respected, and loved. Those who follow them know that you can count on the information that they provide as well as the guests that they have on their weekly podcast. Because that is their ultimate goal…provide cat guardians with the best information and resources to help their cats live long happy lives.

Now Rita Hogan enters, a renowned animal herbalist who is also a best-selling author of The Herbal Dog. Last year’s success of The Herbal Dog book prompted Rita to start thinking about writing The Herbal Cat. However, Rita knew she would need assistance with this one. As we all know, cats are very different from dogs. It is one of the reasons why cats are often misdiagnosed because they are treated like they are a small dog. Rita wanted the insight of someone who knew and understood cats. Someone who had been working for years to educate cat guardians everywhere. Someone who had a following of like-minded people who would pounce at the chance to have a resource with so many holistic and herbal remedies to help their cats. She found that with Jae & Adrienne.

So, what is The Herbal Cat book? This will be a resource for cats and what cats need. The Herbal Cat will give cat guardians a sense of empowerment. It will include sections from common ailments to enrichment and behaviors to energy and woo woo. Covering all stages of life from kittenhood to ageing, hospice care and end of life. Together, this AMEOWZING trio are looking to create a resource that will look at cats as a complete ecosystem providing cat guardians with a whole cat framework approach. They want it to be attainable, approachable, and absorbable. A resource that will be used over and over again. You can bet that mine will be highlighted and tabbed.

The projected release for The Herbal Cat book is at the end of 2026. Typically, I don’t like to wish my days away, but I can not wait until this book is released! My brain is already brewing with ways that I can use this book with my own cats as well as my client’s cats. I am excited to be able to provide my clients with another resource that will help them help their cats. Be sure to visit The Herbal Cat and sign up for their newsletter. You don’t want to miss out on upcoming news, events, and surprise discounts. Check out The Herbal Cat social media pages and stay up to date with the ladies and this amazing new adventure.
