About Mission Meow

Meet Mission Meow.

A registered 501(c)(3), founded in 2022 to get meaningful grants into the hands of small, feline-focused nonprofits. Here’s how it started, what it does and who’s behind it.

This two-minute film by Diagonal Media, made in 2024, explains how Mission Meow works. Business partners and individual donors give to one shared fund, and every quarter Mission Meow awards grants from it to small, feline-focused rescues for projects they could not pay for on their own. Any figures in the film are from 2024; this site has the current ones.

Our story

It started at Catsbury Park.

Sally Williams was volunteering with Catsbury Park, a New Jersey cat café and adoption center, when the pandemic forced its physical location to close in March 2021. Catsbury Park continued its lifesaving work, focusing on TNR and fostering while searching for a new home.

“Watching an organization as established and well-supported as Catsbury Park have to completely pivot because of circumstances beyond their control made me think about all the smaller organizations facing challenges every day. That was really where the idea for Mission Meow began.”

Sally Williams, Founder

When Catsbury Park secured a new building in 2022, making them Mission Meow’s first grant recipient was a no-brainer. Our inaugural $10,000 grant helped fund an expansion of the space, which would ultimately become their new adoption lounge and cat center.

And a cat named Marlin

Marlin, the Buddha Cat.

Marlin was Sally’s cat. In August 2018 he was diagnosed with mast cell cancer and started chemo straight away, and for the next two years he lived every day to the fullest.

He loved Tostitos, headbutts, feet and getting mail, and cards of love arrived from everywhere. A huge family of supporters, Marlin Nation, followed along as he shared his journey.

His life is one of the inspirations for Mission Meow, and his name lives on in the Marlin Giving Tree, Mission Meow’s December fundraiser: every donation puts a star with a name on the tree, and every $10 enters a nightly raffle of prizes from our business partners.

“I would not be doing what I’m doing without him, in life and in the afterlife.”

What we do

A better way to fund small rescues.

    Who we are

A group of animal advocates building a better way to fund small, feline-focused nonprofits.

    Meet the board
  • Mission Meow presents a giant $8,000 check to Urban Panthers Rescue at Feline Fix Fest

    How it works

Businesses contribute every quarter. Pooled with individual donations, that becomes several grants each quarter. Every recipient is vetted through our application process, so you know exactly where the money goes.

  • A bright cat room seen through glass doors, with cat trees and a cat crossing the floor

    Why it matters

Rescues rely on donations, and raising them keeps getting harder. A grant can be the reason a rescue starts a foster program, provides neonatal care or buys a transport van.
